The roles have several dimensions:

Technical: in terms of technical input you will prepare, check and approve as appropriate, the basic design and engineering of all process, utility and offsite equipment and systems; perform onsite activities of pre-commissioning, commissioning, start up and performance test run; and act as the discipline technical representative in dealings with Clients and Third Parties.

You will also assist with the preparations of proposals within your area of competence; perform the technical and administrative functions of the Process PSL; and perform standard calculations to ensure the design of a "safe" plant. Good written and verbal skills in the communication of technical information are required,

People/Activity Management: you will be demonstrates ability to plan, prioritise and complete allocated workload within the allotted man-hours and schedule; co-ordinate, supervise and allocate design activities performed by subordinates; and prepare discipline reports for the monitoring of progress, man-hour utilisation, efficiency and manpower requirements.

You will need to identify circumstances which would adversely affect schedules and man-hour consumption; perform the function of process PSL on projects of moderate complexity; and act as a mentor to graduate members of the Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Computer Systems: you will be involved in performing complex calculations and help develop new software as appropriate.

Client Contact: You will co-ordinate SPL activities in a task force containing client personnel; and establish a good working relationship with clients' engineers.

Quality Management: you will provide input for the need to prepare new or revise existing quality procedures to ensure the document is suitable for its purpose; be familiar with a wide variety of quality procedures relating to all aspects of a project; ensures that all work is carried out in accordance with company technical procedures; and identify all national and international codes and standards applicable to a specific project and ensures their utilisation.
