Business Developer to work with the Head of Business Development in a leading innovation company’s medical diagnostics and instrumentation business. With proven success in developing business in the medical diagnostics and instrumentation products sector with substantial contract values; you will have a good degree in physical sciences or engineering. Significant commercial experience in medical product development, sales experience with a design and development services company or sales experience with a medical products company is required.
Your responsibility will be to support the strategy for the business and execute significant personal sales, marketing and client management activities that result in continued growth of this major sector of our business. This will include all aspects of business development for their medical diagnostics and instrumentation business.
You will:
Identify companies that are potential clients
Develop strong commercial relationships with senior executives in potential client companies
Personally close substantial sales
Work with and guide our technical teams in the UK and the USA to maximise sales conversion
Feed back market information to the technical teams to support product and service development
Interact with teams across the broad technical base of the company which includes: mechanical engineering, product design, electronics, software, regulatory affairs, manufacturing technology, process automation and life sciences.
You will also use your strong commercial and technical skills to make a significant contribution to the overall direction of development projects, often working on more than one concurrently. Whilst this position is based in the UK, there will be some international travel required (typically up to 25% of time).

Senior Consultant for a leading innovation/technology company in East Anglia to take a leading role in the design and delivery of multi-disciplinary projects in the field of drug delivery products and devices. An EC national; the senior consultant in drug delivery will have a strong academic background with 2.1 or 1st, higher degree preferred; and a high level of practical experience within an engineering design environment along with proven technical skills. Experience in a pharmaceutical or medical devices company is essential, as are good project management skills and a excellent knowledge of medical device development processes compliant with ISO 13485 and QSR.
Ideally Senior Consultant (drug delivery) will have hand-on experience of manufacturing and assembly processes from one-off designs to high volume manufacture.
As a senior member of staff, you will support the drug delivery campaign in a variety of ways from exhibiting and presenting at key conferences to representing the group at sales meetings. You will use your strong technical expertise and knowledge of the drug delivery field to develop relationships with current and future clients by understanding their needs, writing proposals to define the work programmes, holding technical workshops and presenting data.
As Senior Consultant (drug delivery) you will provide a technical point of contact within the company for clients. Significant project management tasks will be a key part of the role, and you will lead multi-disciplinary projects teams including engineers, fluid dynamicists, industrial designers and laboratory scientists.

Product Specialist to manage a portfolio of Kitemark CE and of other certification schemes for a leading certification and product testing agency. Probably a graduate or equivalent; you will be knowledgeable about the concepts and intent of product certification and the application of quality management standards. You will have solid working experience in at least one of design, development, manufacturing, testing, evaluation or clinical use of medical device products – ideally Class 3. The products might include implantable devices for orthopaedics, cardiovascular, ophthalmic, dialysis or dental use.
Your responsibilities will include:
(a) Review critical data, sometimes at the cutting edge of technology where no product standards or device experience exists, able to identify when additional external expertise is required, and qualified to make safe recommendations for the issuing of certificates
(b) Prepare documentation for panel submission
(c )Manage Projects allocated by Team Leader by drawing together necessary information, driving the project to meet time deadlines and where necessary appoint appropriate technical clinical or external reviewer to assess the dossier or technical file and making recommendations to the Panel
(d) Responsible for performing reviews of clients’ design dossiers or technical files ensuring compliance with regulatory and voluntary requirements
(e) Planning, performing and reporting Technical Audits both on and off the client’s premises
(f) Perform Certification Panel reviews of submissions to the Panel as required
(g) Ensure client liaison and discussion is of the highest value for the service provided.
(h) Ensure certificates reflect the scheme and client’s requirements, in order that the integrity of the scheme is consistently maintained.
(i) Present technical advice in relation to the scheme to clients, prospective clients, sub-contractors, other parts of the company.
(j) Maintain a high level of awareness of the changes in the standards field especially as regarding the voluntary and mandatory certification market in Europe and internationally. ? Analyse these changes and determine the impact they will have on the company and advise the appropriate action and ensure any scheme changes are clearly understood
(k) Provide technical advice/information for sales, marketing and client services to help them generate new business and maintain existing business
(l) Interface with industry stakeholders to discuss certification criteria and scheme parameters
(m) Develop and plan technically complex product services to clients in a way that builds the company’s reputation for service excellence.
(n) Manage the clients and their relationship with Product Services in order to maintain and develop the value chain within targets.
(o) Develop client liaison and discussion to ensure the service provided is of the highest value from application through to issue of licence or certificate and then continually if the client is subject to ongoing surveillance and/or testing, ensuring the relevant Conditions of Contract are followed.
(p) Understand the relevant directives, standards and specifications in support of the schemes and any compliance or regulatory issues that affect the administration of the schemes.
(q) Co-ordinate or undertake the evaluation of the client’s system to meet the scheme requirements. This may involve product testing, onsite quality management system and/or quality plan assessments, technical or design file assessments.
(r) Check assessment, test reports and other relevant documentation in order that sound judgements can be made for certification recommendation and be responsible for the integrity of the recommendation
(s) Effective communication to other Product Services staff, R&C, Sales, Marketing, Laboratories and MS Client Managers, including external sub-contractors and suppliers in relation to the schemes.
(t) Set priorities, to understand client needs, to take appropriate action in conditions of uncertainty and translate this knowledge into effective decisions
(u) Ensure Company Group Rules and local policies and practices are being followed .
